Oak Cliff, the “Austin ”
of Dallas has a long and rich history south of
the Trinity River. With
incredible views of the skyline from different areas, it is uniquely located on
a cliff above the river. A recent renaissance has helped the “Cliff”
become a destination from all other parts of the city. The Bishop Arts
section is an eclectic assortment of businesses ranging from haute cuisine
restaurants to quaint pubs, art galleries, gift shops and edgy
clothing boutiques. The renovated Charles Dilbeck designed hotel, the Belmont, enjoys the
reputation of being the hippest lodging in the city and hosts
the daily ritual of cocktails on the patio at sunset, which reflects
spectacularly in the glass high-rises of downtown. The newest
contribution to the skyline, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, destined to be world
famous, is in close proximity. Home of the city’s first Historic
District, Winnetka Heights, and the gorgeous East Kessler Park, Kessler
Park and Steven’s Park Estates, it has a wonderful variety of neighborhoods not
common to a large part of the city.
